HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE RECOMMENDED?
This depends on what we are treating, for some 1-2 sessions will achieve the desired results. For scar improvement 3-5 sessions are recommended. The number of sessions will depend on the age and health of the skin and what extent of improvement is desired.
IS THE TREATMENT PAINFUL?
For skin rejuvenation and scar treatment your skin will be numbed with topical anaesthetic so treatment will not be painful. After treatment you will feel a build up of heat in the skin but we will reduce this quickly by effective skin cooling.
Your skin will appear red , like a sunburn although not painful, for 1-3 days, on days 4-6 the skin will feel rough, like mild sandpaper, as it exfoliates. On day 7-10 your new smooth skin will be revealed. You can return to normal activity 1-2 days after your treatment.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Improvement will be seen 7-10 days post treatment as the skin feels smother and appears younger. As the treatment is building natural collagen this process takes a number of months so full results are seen 2-3 months after your final treatment. Whilst this does take time, the end result is permanent and not some temporary filler, it is also a natural result and appearance. In many cases it can restore your skin to how it was 8-10 years ago.
CAN I WEAR MAKEUP OR GO IN THE SUN?
Makeup can be worn after a couple of days. Sun exposure should be avoided 4-6 weeks before and 3 months after treatment. SPF50 is recommended.

ACNE SCAR TREATMENT
SmartXEL C02 fractional laser is one of the most effective methods of improving the appearance of both surgical scars and acne scars. The laser beams will break down the scar tissue, resurface the outer skin and rebuild collagen in the dermis to remodel and smooth out the acne scars.
The laser beam is divided or fractionated into an array of micro shafts of laser light that create tiny holes in the skin. The double pulse technology of SmartXEL then delivers a second pulse to heat the dermis causing fibroblasts to produce new collagen. Collagen provides structure, support and strength to the skin. Increased collagen thickens the skin, smoothing the surface lines, wrinkles or indentations.

Smoking decreases collagen production, it constricts blood vessels near the skins surface preventing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients
REDUCE SUGAR AND REFINED CARBS
Sugar attaches to proteins to form advanced glycation and causes collagen to become weak and brittle.
AVOID SUN EXPOSURE
Exposure to ultraviolet light reduces collagen production and causes collagen to break down resulting in premature ageing of the skin.
