Struggling with crowded, crooked, or misaligned teeth? Fixed braces are one of the most effective ways to correct a wide range of orthodontic issues, from simple alignment to more complex bite problems.
At The Harrogate Clinic, our fixed braces use brackets bonded to each tooth and connected by a wire that is carefully adjusted over time. Because they stay in place throughout treatment, fixed braces work consistently day and night, which makes them especially well suited to children and teenagers, and to cases that need precise, predictable results. Treatment is fully tailored to each patient after a thorough assessment with our dental team.

The Right Time to Straighten Your Child's Teeth

Fixed braces are one of the most common and effective orthodontic treatments for children and teenagers. Treating alignment and bite problems early, while the jaw is still developing, often leads to smoother treatment and more stable long-term results.

We know that as a parent you want a treatment you can trust. Our dental team carefully assesses every child, explains exactly what is needed and why, and supports both you and your child through each stage. Because fixed braces stay in place throughout treatment, there is no need to rely on a child remembering to wear an appliance, which gives many parents real peace of mind.

If you are unsure whether your child is ready for braces, the best first step is a simple assessment with our team.

Answer to Your Questions
How long does fixed braces treatment take?

Treatment length varies depending on the complexity of the case, but most patients wear fixed braces for somewhere between twelve and twenty-four months. We give a clearer estimate after the initial assessment.

What age should a child start braces?

Every child is different. Many begin orthodontic treatment between the ages of ten and fourteen, once enough adult teeth have come through, but the best way to know is a simple assessment with our team.

Do fixed braces hurt?

Most patients feel some mild pressure or tenderness for a few days after braces are fitted or adjusted. This is normal, settles quickly, and is easily managed.

How often are adjustment appointments?

Patients usually visit us every few weeks so the braces can be adjusted and progress checked. These appointments are short.

Will my child need a retainer afterwards?

Yes. After any braces treatment, a retainer is needed to keep the teeth in their new position. We explain all of this clearly before treatment begins.
